Fine quality black silk top hat, this is the desirable type that is collapsible for easy transport. Interior has gold makers label for, A.J.White Hatter Cap maker, Jermy St, St James St, Regent St. The hat is also printed with the original owners initials which appear to be G.H.N but they are rather faint now. Highley decorative borders with with inscription to the exterior side of the lid and it is inscribed, PRESENTED TO WILLIAM KNOTT ESQ CHAIRMAN OF THE GENERAL PURPOSE COMMITTEE 1851 with large coat of arms.
