BELLARMINE STONWARE BOTTLE, CIRCA 1650.

A very nice Bellarmine stoneware jug with attractive mottled glaze. The shoulder of the jug features the bearded man mask and below that a large ornate medallion with coat of arms which is more unusual than the standard Tudor rose or lion designs, The reverse side features the original handle . There are several attractive glazed kiln marks from manufacture, one of which is close to the mask. There is an old hair line crack on the reverse side running from the handle down to base. Height 9 inches or 23cm. Exc+.
