Superb and extremely rare Victorian Martin Brothers spoonwarmer by Robert Wallace Martin. This brown glazed stoneware spoonwarmer is designed as a grotesque open mouthed and bloated figure with blue tinted eyes and a stubby snouty nose and with a looped tail like handle. The base is incised, R.W.Martin London & Southall 2.3.86. Height 10cm. Provenance Sotheby's New York 12.3.1997 lot 297 and exhibited at the Fantasy and Grotesque Martin Brothers exhibition.
