This attractive vase commemorates the visit of the Prince of Wales (latter King Edward the 7th) to the Doulton factory in 1885 and the award of the Albert medal to Henry Doulton. Green glazed decorative vase with brown and white decoration. The front of the vase has a plaque featuring the bust of the prince of wales in profile with the Prince of wales plumes above and motto below. There are two further plaques, the first one has the inscription, ALBERT MEDAL SOCIETY OF ARTS 1885 FOR IMPULSE GIVEN TO PRODUCTION OF ART POTTERY IN LONDON, the second plaque has the inscription, PRESENTED BY H.R.H THE PRINCE OF WALES TO HENRY DOULTON DECEMBER 21 1885 AT LAMBETH ART POTTERY. The vase is especially attractive as it is produced with a simulated high quality lace affect. Doulton factory marks to base. Height 16cm. A rare commemorative Doulton factory vase, the last one i remember seeing for sale was about 6 years ago and that sold for more than double my asking price.
